As a Salem Witch, I weave together words and intention to create one-of-a-kind ceremonies.

My name is Tara ("Tah-Rah") McMullen-King (She/Her), and I launched Witchy Woman Weddings in 2020 to help couples create wedding, commitment, and vow renewal ceremonies that honor their story, reflect their beliefs and values, and express their unique style.

I'm an Eclectic Witch and a Wiccan Priestess, formally initiated into a lineaged branch of British Traditional Witchcraft whose roots reach back to the very beginnings of Wicca in England. My practice weaves together cartomancy (tarot, oracle, Lenormand), tasseography, runes, crystals, candle magick, and multiple forms of scrying. Over the past decade, I have trained with respected scholars and influential leaders in Wicca, witchcraft, folk magic, and divination, participating in classes and intensive workshops that have deepened my expertise and strengthened my craft.

An ordained minister of American Marriage Ministries, I have also been a member of the International Association of Professional Wedding Officiants (IAPWO). Over the past decade, I have pursued advanced training in professional ceremony officiation, event design, and wedding planning, and completed intensive coursework through the New York Institute of Art and Design, earning certification from the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) - the world’s largest professional wedding planning organization.

Before establishing Witchy Woman Weddings, I spent 15 years involved in event design and coordination, working on everything from professional conferences and fundraising galas to psychic fairs and bespoke personal celebrations.

Alongside my work as a wedding witch, I work full-time for a fundraising research and data analytics consulting firm that has supported hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the United States and internationally.

Some fun facts - I’m also an artist and a retired performer with the Boston League of Women Wrestlers. I serve on two local boards here in Salem: I’m the Board President of the Salem Playhouse, where we’re transforming a former church into a mid-size performing arts space for the community; and I also sit on the Executive Board of the Sisterhood of Salem, a networking and empowerment group for local women. My closet holds ten different types of Crocs and mostly black clothing, my skin holds more tattoos than I can count, and I’ve spent most of my life as a vegetarian. I’m always up for a trivia night, I absolutely dominate at music bingo, and I love karaoke (though my favorite stage is my Jeep, pounding on the steering wheel and belting out tunes at the top of my lungs). When I’m not hunkered down with my laptop working on projects, you can usually find me drinking black coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts, getting tattooed, indulging in retail therapy, binge-watching documentaries and ridiculous reality TV, or hanging out at my favorite local haunts. I have a weakness for Taco Bell, Aussie Magic cheese, and giant margaritas, and my ultimate comfort movies are the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.

Born and raised in Connecticut, I moved to Boston after graduating from Smith College, a liberal arts college for women in Northampton, Massachusetts. In 2015, I moved up to the Witch City... and met my soulmate two weeks later! Three years after our first date here in Salem (which took place on a Friday the 13th, naturally), we had our own fabulous "spooky season" wedding at The House of the Seven Gables. We currently live in a very old home in downtown Salem with our two black cats - Pugsley Addams and Darth Vader - and a few benevolent spirits.

For my astrology lovers out there, my Big Three are: Aquarius sun, Pisces moon, and Virgo rising!
